Milford United
Methodist Church, originally a United Brethren Church was organized in
1902. The Church building was dedicated September 26, 1903. The Church was
an outgrowth of a Sunday school which began meeting about 1897 in Humbert
School. In 1970 it was linked with Rockwood: Christ Church. The membership
in 1970 was 123. The membership on January 1, 2003 was 235.

United Methodist Church, originallay an Evangelical United Brethren
congregation is a merger of two churches: The former Evangelical Church of
the Pittsburgh Conference and the United Brethren Church of Allegheny
Conference. The first United Brethren class was organized in 1871 at
Mineral Point, now Rockwood with 21 members. A schoolhouse and the
Evangelical church were used. There had been occasional preaching as early
as 1839. In 1873 the United Brethren erected a one-room frame church. The
new Church, erected on the same site, was dedicated May 12, 1912. In July
1959 the Evangelical Church merged with Christ Church, using the West
Broadway sanctuary. The Evangelical Association Church had been built on
West Main Street in 1871. In 1970 the Rockwood: Christ Church was linked
with Milford and had 213 members. The membership on January 1, 2003 was
130.
